The mother of Suzanne Simpson, who disappeared a week ago in Texas, shared at a candlelight prayer vigil that she didn’t think her daughter was still alive.
Barbara Clark told the local news outlet WOAI that she normally heard frequently from Suzanne, who is a 51-year-old realtor working at Nix Realty in San Antonio.
The fact they’d not spoken since she went missing made her think that her daughter was not still alive.
Barbara told the outlet that she’d spoken to Suzanne on the night she went missing, as Suzanne had asked her if she would be able to watch one of her four children while she went to a friend’s party.
However, later that night Suzanne called her mother again as she had changed her mind, according to WOAI, and told Barbara about an argument she’d had with her husband Brad.
Barbara reportedly said, “My speculation is maybe the whole thing is alcohol-related because when she got back, she called me up and told me the things that Brad had done to her physically.”
“I don’t understand why and what happened and I hope someday I will be able to understand the situation,” she added.
Barbara also allegedly shared with the outlet that that evening wasn’t the first time the couple, who have been married for 22 years, had argued, and she was planning on asking her daughter to move in with her instead.
She said, “Well I came up with an alternative plan for her and hoped that she would move in with me and have her little toddler go to the elementary school in my neighborhood, I never got to tell her the plan.”
On Sunday night, before Suzanne was reported by her husband as missing on Monday to the Olmos Park Police Department, it was reported that the couple returned home after attending a party at The Argyle in San Antonio. WOAI reported that the couple were seen arguing at the party and later in front of their house.
A neighbor, who could hear them arguing, informed the police. He said that when the arguing grew louder and he looked out his window, he saw them physically fighting.
He said that Suzanne was trying to get away from her husband, but that Brad pulled her back. Later on, the neighbor said he heard screams from a wooded area near the home.
It has been reported by police that Suzanne, a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes, was last seen wearing a black knee-length dress and black heels, but that she could also be barefoot. She is also 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
Anyone with information about Suzanne has been asked to call the Olmos Park Police Department at 210-822-2000.
